I met Elder Neil L. Andersen

This week Elder Neil L. Andersen of the Quorum of the 12 Apostles came to our stake for a surprise stake conference. That Sunday he requested to have a meeting with the Greatest Ohio Cincinnati missionaries! You can imagine we were totally okay with that. He met with us at the Montgomery building, which is right around the corner from our apartment :) But anyway! We all got to shake his hand and it was just so awesome. He also talked to us at Stake Conference :) Here are a few insights from the amazing spirit filled weekend! President Bradley, the stake president, talked about the Atonement and the TRANSFORMING power that it has :) The Atonement can make us better if we chose to apply it. That is something that I have really learned this transfer. I have been changed all through the Atonement and I am so grateful for it :) Then Sister Porter talked to us! She talked about the Book of Mormon, and how we need to repent for not reading it ;) but it's so true! We need to be reading it every. single. day. The Book of Mormon WAS MADE FOR US AT THIS TIME. It was from our Heavenly Father to help us in our lives. SO READ IT. Also fun fact! Elder Andersen almost moved to Cincinnati many many years ago :) Elder Andersen is super funny. He was telling us that his wife told him to stop talking like he is so old. He told us that he can't help it when he hangs out with 80 year old men who have one foot in this life and on foot on the other side of the veil and they have to keep pulling them back in. HAHAHAHAHA. The congregation didn't know whether to laugh or not at that. I thought it was hilarious.

So this week was just amazing. Garrett is still on date, and he is now in Europe until Easter. The only downside it that he hasn't talked to his parents about it... and he needs to since he is 17. But he is reading the Book of Mormon which is amazing! I am staying in Montgomery for another transfer so I will get to see him be baptized! So blessed.

We are teaching an Indian woman who just got here over a year ago. Her name is Cimi and she is just so awesome. I never knew how the Indian culture was... she told us that she can't ask her husband questions! That is just so sad. We asked if she would be baptized and she said no because the other Indian people in the complex she lives in would think less of her. It is just such a hard situation. We are meeting with her again this week, so we will see how that goes.

The Koth family just had there daughter, Renee come home from Romania! She is so awesome. When we went over to meet her she was asleep and we woke her up. We took her teaching with us the other day and she tried to place a Book of Mormon... which we don't do in this mission. It was really funny! She was so embarrassed. She is really awesome at talking to people and connecting with them :) She is coming out with us again this week :) It's her brother who we were working with to quit smoking and drugs, and he is still in inpatient rehab. Luckily they get to visit him 3 times a week :)

I got to see Maxine from Cincinnati yesterday! Some people is the Monty ward know her and invited her and us over for dinner. It made me so happy to see her!! She told me I am very favorite missionary :)

I just love my mission! I can't believe that I am almost to my half way mark! So crazy. What is even crazier is that President Porter is going home in July... we are getting a new mission president and mom! President and Sister Welch :) President and Sister Porter actually know them, and they said that they will just help the mission be even better than it already is! I am just so beyond excited for this next year that I have to be on my mission!! This Church is true!!

Birthday Week

This was an awesome week, but also a really weird week.

Let me just say that as a missionary, you get a lot of fake numbers. It's really frustrating. That has happened twice this week. It's so sad and annoying!

Garrett, our investigator who is dating a member, is so awesome! We met with him on Thursday and committed him to read 1 Nephi chapters 1-5, and he did it by the time we met with him on Sunday!!! On Sunday we had dinner with him at the Meaders home (Tasia Meaders is his girlfriend). We taught part of the Plan of Salvation, AND WE PUT HIM ON DATE FOR BAPTISM ON APRIL 16TH. We are so exctied! Garrett is so golden. We just have to make sure that he is doing it for himself and not for Tasia :)

Funny story for the week, we got a new investigator named Victor.. I will try to explain to you the conversation we had: He started telling us about how one time he did psychedelic drugs, and said that we should really consider it. Then he said that when he did it and he saw everything moving like waves, he said "AND THAT'S WHEN I KNEW THAT EVERYTHING WAS A LIE". I didn't even know what to say to him. He just started going on this rant about this government project forever ago about building towers that could control our thoughts, so those voices you hear in your head is really the government. He said that he would challenge the voices in his head, and then they would go away (I'm preeeetty sure that's just him driving the spirit away). Then he was saying that the clouds in the sky aren't really clouds, but it's this material that the government sprays to hide all the planes and UFO's fighting each other. He told us that ever since he did drugs that he can see the UFO's all the time fighting the airplanes.... lastly, when we prayed and I opened my eyes his hands were out, and I said "Oh, you pray with your hands out?" (because Stef from my last area did too). Ohhhh, but get this-- he said he prays like that because when you do, and you're really good at it, you can open portals. When Sister Johnson and I walked away we busted up laughing. Oh, and also, we are meeting with him again Friday...

IT WAS MY BIRTHDAY! Thank you everyone for the birthday wishes, and thank you especially to my merm and derd for the package. It was a great birthday and my favorite fam in the ward fed us dinner! It was a fun filled day :)

This week is also my 6 month mark. Also, if any of you did not know, all missionaries who were in the MTC for only 12 days got their missions extended a week because they extended the amount of time English speaking missionaries are in the MTC. I will be coming home (not like it is any time soon) the first week of April! A week longer of serving in the Greatest Ohio Cincinnati Mission!! <3

Don't Smoke Weed

This was a crazy week!

We had zone conference on Wednesday! I always love those. President Porter talked to us a lot about Joseph Smith and the Book of Mormon. It was a good reminder that our testimonies are really based on those. :) It was very powerful! He also talked about how we have no right to judge because we aren't called as Judges of Israel. It was very powerful and very humbling :)

We met an awesome family this week! They were a referral from another media referral. They are so prepared! We found them on Saturday, they sadly didn't come to church, but then on Sunday we put one of them, Deja, on date for April 2nd! It was so amazing because we didn't plan on putting her on date, but the spirit prompted us to do so! She accepted!! YAY! DEJA IS GETTING BAPTIZED! We are so beyond excited :)

There in another investigator, Garrett, is mooooost likely going to get baptized this transfer :) he got approval from his parents (he is 18 but lives at home, so its just better to get their approval), and has been to church multiple times :) We just need to crack down and teach him and get his baptized! We really feel good about it and are really excited!

So our Less Active who is recovering from Marijuana addiction, got some weed this week... but he didn't smoke it! He had the courage to flush it down the toilet when we were there. He actually got it from his older brothers room... his brother no longer lives in the home. They chose to kick him out because he has no interest in changing. It was really sad but we believe it was for the best. We were so proud of our Less Active for not smoking the weed. We are sad he chose to take some, but repentance is real!

Today we went to the Chiropractor in Dayton, Ohio, We went to President Lochinger who is in the mission presidency. He popped our necks and backs and it felt amazing! Then he told us how some missionaries were at the Air Force Museum about 20 minutes away. We said that we would love to go, and so he gave us permission! The museum is actually outside of the mission, so it was a big deal to get permission. So we went to the Air Force Museum! It was so fun. We weren't able to stay long because we had on hour drive home, but we got to look at the Cold Ward display and the missiles. I sent some awesome pictures in my previous email!

This was a fun week! We are starting week 6 of the transfer, this is a 7 week transfer as well! So transfers are on March 22nd. I think  I'll stay in Montgomery, but you never know!

This was a really exciting and busy week! This week is pretty much the same. OH GUESS WHAT. There is an Apostle coming the 19th and 20th! He was coming to talk to our Stake, but he decided to have a meeting with the missionaries as well! So we get 2 days of the Apostle. We have no idea who it is yet! We are all very excited :)

Thank you all! Sorry about emails this week, I got a little crunched for time! Hope you all have a great week!
